21 boats turned out for the first race of 2023. The senior division promises to be tough and tight this year now that a few of the previous Intermediate sailors have moved up to Seniors. Also with last year’s winners, Patrick and Jonathan Hill, sailing individually this year the laser fleet has expanded. Great to see Alice and Amelia also moving up to the laser fleet in their 4.7/ILCA4.
The weather was kinder to us than last year when we only managed one race. From the shore the wind looked fairly benign but out on the water the conditions were much better, with only a few capsizes.
The Lasers got off to good starts in all races with Jacob Bennett off to an early lead, one which he maintained all day securing 3 wins.
Congratulations to the fleet winners, Jacob Bennett in the Senior fleet, William Morbey in the Intermediate fleet and to Jack Mason who bravely battled with the Tera Pro in the Junior division.

Let’s continue the great start to the season at the Toddbrook event on 29th April. Once again it is held at Combs Sailing Club as the work to Toddbrook dam is ongoing.
