This year we have created a whatsApp group to keep members updated on a more real-time basis. Currently this is set to broadcast only and we will review whether that is opened for comments later in the year. There are a few housekeeping rules that we must request that you follow.
As you may know whatsApp works with phone numbers and any member of a group can see phone numbers for any other member. Also names are only shown if they are in your local contacts list on your phone otherwise the name shown in your personal profile is shown. Please ensure that you have something sensible in your profile so that we can know who is in the group.
Also to ensure compliance with our safeguarding rules please take every step to ensure that junior sailors do not join the group through the QR code available on the DYS options part of the website. If youths get on the group they will be removed and the group may be closed down if it becomes a problem, purely to protect the identity of junior sailors.
