Derbyshire Youth Sailing

Welcome to the Ogston Sailing Club DYS series event and we hope you enjoy this the seventh event of the series.

Whilst we are coming out of the COVID 19 restrictions there are a number of additional things you will need to take note of so as to adhere to both the requirements for those sailing at Ogston and also so we meet the conditions set out in law and the RYA.

These rules need to be strictly observed.

Please follow the details below for this event.

1. Please be sure to register for the event in advance so that all those supporting the event can plan accordingly.
2. Aim to arrive at the club no earlier than 9am, as the gates will be closed and there is no room to park on the road outside. When you arrive, please drive straight down the driveway and unload your boat in the area in front of the boat shed. Please remove your car and trailer as soon as possible to the main car park.
3. Signing in for the event will be done outside the clubhouse on a table provided for the purpose, where NHS Test and Trace details will also be collected, or you can scan the QR code.
4. The changing rooms will be available for use, but numbers in each changing room are limited to 5 people. Markings on the walls show where you should change. Once changed please remove your belongings back to your car.  The showers will be available after sailing, but numbers are limited to 2 in each changing room.  Those showers which are not in use will be marked.
5. The toilets will be open. There are toilets in the changing rooms, but it is preferred if people would use the toilet at the left side of the boat shed.
6. You will need to rig your boat yourself (or with the help of your parents) and whilst launching it could be helpful if your parent(s) were available to take your launching trolley from the water’s edge. There are 2 slipways and a large beach area, so there is plenty of room to maintain a reasonable distance from each other while launching.
7. A briefing will be held at 10.30am in the area at the top of the main slipway. Racing will commence no earlier than 11am. We plan to run one race before lunch and two races back-to-back in the afternoon session, although this could be altered on the day.
8. A limited number of bacon cobs will be available to purchase in the morning on arrival. Cheese and Tomato pizza will be available at lunchtime, but must be ordered in advance no later than midday on Friday 16^th June. 9. Please be aware we are hoping for good weather for this event and will be monitoring the conditions carefully. Because of the COVID regulations we will try to have boats with two people from the same household in them. Power boat drivers will have face masks to hand out if required. We will be keeping a close eye on the weather and may make a decision to halt racing if conditions are liable to make rescue difficult.

Any vehicles entering the club must follow the organisers’ instructions for parking, and sailors and their accompanying members must follow Ogston Sailing Club Covid-safe practice guidelines or they may be disqualified.
