Derbyshire Youth Sailing

Team Racing involves sailing together in a team of three boats, on a short 15 minute course, using the rules to your advantage. The team with the best overall score (lowest points) wins. This is a great fun, social way to sail which really improves all of your sailing skills and knowledge of the rules.

We are running training in this discipline using Toppers and Fevas at Rudyard SC on Saturday 7th September (9am – 5pm). This training is open to all DYS sailors who are already confident to race and have a general understanding of the basic rules. All boats are provided so sailors just need to be at Rudyard for a 9am start. The aim is for everyone to be leaving the site by 5pm at the latest.

There are grants available to cover the cost of training (£15) for sailors new to DYS in the last 2 years.

Places will be limited on the training due to availability of boats. Priority will be given to those sailors who have put themselves forwards for selection for the team race events at Burton SC on 28th/29th September and at Oxford on 12th/13th October. Anyone else who would like to be considered for selection, please email dysteam@btinternet.com.

There are teams to cover all levels of team race experience, but team selection (as per our policy) is only open to Derbyshire sailors and not associated club sailors.

The training is open to everyone.

There will be a specific lunch available to participants and their families (£4.50 each). The cafe will be open with their usual menu and specials if people want different food.
